A major problem travelling anglers often experience is being able to take the right gear along, bearing in mind there can be awkward restrictions with certain modes of transport. The obvious solution lays with multi section travel rods that break down to a convenient length for easy storage. However, these rods have not always been up to the task, proving far too stiff and ungainly. This isn't the case with the new Hardy Marksman Ultralite Avon 11ft Smuggler. We've listened to what travelling anglers want and produced a stunning, versatile rod that breaks down into four pieces for compact storage and easy shipment. This rod is totally different when it's assembled in full working mode, looking and handling just like a conventional two-piece Avon design! We've even softened the action down, so this 11ft Avon can manage lighter lines and more refined tackle. In fact it's remarkably similar to traditional split cane Avon rods, but with much faster casting and striking qualities - due to its lightweight Fuji SiC line guides and high modulus carbon construction.

The Hardy Marksman Ultralite Avon 11ft Smuggler can be hidden away in the boot of a car or fitted inside larger suitcases; breaking down to a very compact 89cms (2ft 11inches) and it only weighs 193g. On the bank this rod suits wide ranging freshwater applications, including long trotting, casting swimfeeders, waggler fishing, or using straight bomb rigs. It's also the perfect tool for light spinning, free lining, or even undertaking some light sea fishing tasks.
